3 Ways to Cut Your Grocery Bill Without Coupons

I love coupons, but I have to admit that it’s not always convenient to carry them. If you’re caught at the store without coupons, you can still save big. Here’s how:

1. Make it a part of your routine to grab any sales circulars that are located near the front of the store. Scan them quickly to see if an item you plan to buy—or a new brand on the similar product—is on sale. Don’t be tempted to buy what’s not on your list, though!

2. When you check out, ask the cashier if there are any store specials happening. At the very least, check out clerks are probably familiar with that store’s specials, and can notify you if there’s a deal going on. Clerks may also have coupons by their register that they’d be happy to lend to you. This could also spark a conversation with other people in line, who may offer helpful information about deals or coupons they found that may apply at that store or another one.

3. Sign up for special clubs on the spot. Baby clubs and kids’ birthday clubs are two examples. Some stores offer discounts just as an incentive for signing up.

Every few dollars saved counts. Even if you only save two dollars a week, after a year you’ve saved over a hundred bucks.
